I learnt that sexual harassment includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical harassment of a sexual nature in the workplace or learning environment. Sexual harassment is anything or idea that suggests sexual activity or sexual relationship which is not pleasing or accepted by the other party.

I also got to understand that sexual harassment and sexual assault are different terms but one can lead to the other.

Sexual harassment is sexual gestures while Sexual assault is a forceful sexual act, for example rape.

Sexual harassment generally violates civil laws, meaning that you have a right to work or learn without being harassed, but most times, it is not a criminal act, while sexual assault usually refers to acts that are criminal.

Some examples of sexual harassment could involve:

💔Requests for sexual favors.
💔Verbal harassment of a sexual nature, including jokes referring to sexual acts or sexual orientation.
💔Unwanted touching or physical contact.
💔Unwelcome sexual advances.
💔Discussing sexual relations/stories/fantasies at work, school, or in other inappropriate places.
💔Feeling pressured to engage with someone sexually.
💔Exposing oneself or performing sexual acts on oneself.
💔Unwanted sexually explicit photos, emails or text messages.

Some forms of sexual assault include:

💔Penetration of the victim’s genitals, also known as rape.
💔Attempted rape.
💔Forcing a victim to perform sexual acts, such as oral sex or penetration of the perpetrator’s body.

💔Fondling or unwanted sexual touching.

I chose to talk about this topic because we, both males and females need to respect each other's sexuality which is not common again in our society.

So this lesson taught how to respect the opposite sex by not sexually harassing her.

I choose to lend my voice to educate adolescents as my engagement for global action in celebration of the 2020 International Youth Day.
