Why Donate? Support our Impactful Cause

At Saving Hand Development Initiative (SHADE-IN), our mission is clear: to enhance the speedy transformation of the Nigerian system by creating exceptional values among young people, communities, and leaders.

So far, our work has impacted communities in four states through physical interventions and in several states across the federation.

Our mantra is simple but powerful: transforming lives and building nations by God’s Hand.

Even though we are not a traditional faith-based organisation, our mission is faith-based because ours is not just another initiative but a call from God. Our beginning was purely divine as our founder received a divine mandate after her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to reach out to a community called Aba-Ebira in Ekiti State, Nigeria in the year 2009.

This led to our first intervention in April, 2010. After then, the vision has blossomed into an organisation, SHADE-IN, duly registered with CAC since 2012, which has raised undergraduates and graduates.

Today, having achieved a lot with minimal funding support, we realise that we can do even more with the right support.

Every gift you make fuels programmes that bring hope, dignity, and opportunity to young people and communities in need.

From mentoring preteens, teens and young adults to lighting and transforming rural villages, you can be the reason someone’s story changes for good.

Why We’re Raising Funds Now

To mark the International Day of Charity which held on 5th September, 2025, Saving Hand Development Initiative (SHADE-IN) has flagged off this fundraising campaign. We are focusing on raising funds for our flagship SHADE-IN Teens Hub 6-Month Mentorship Programme, Cohort 1, which is starting in September, 2025 but was relaunched on 28th July, 2025.

This mentorship is designed to guide preteens, teenagers and young adults through purpose discovery, life skills, leadership development and other essential skills to enable them become bold, confident world-class changemakers, contributing to national development.

We're raising young leaders who are well informed and grounded with character and the skills to transform their lives, their neighbourhood, Nigeria and the world at large.

In our previous interventions, we have recorded awesome testimonials and success stories, some of which are recorded below. But to make our work more impactful, we need your help.

You can support us in kind, cash, sponsorship or referral.

You can become our financial partner too to commit to supporting our work through recurring donations. You'll be recognized as one of our financial partners. Kindly reach out via our contact details in the flier here if you're led to be one of our financial partners.

But, if not, whatever gift you give will be appreciated.

Here’s where your support will go:

1. A 3-day grand event in April, 2026 (Easter break) featuring:

  • 🎓Graduation/Exhibition/Concert Ceremony for SHADE-IN Teens Hub beneficiaries
  • 🎤 Teenagers' Choice Conference targeting 1000 persons.
  • Needs include: hall, equipment, costumes, business pitch support, toolkits, transport, refreshments, and more.

2. 📚 Six months virtual mentorship targeting 100 beneficiaries. Needs include tech, learning and mentorship toolkits, webinars hosting, resource persons fee/support, advocacy campaigns, media, data support for mentors, participants, and volunteers, books, art and craft materials, and other resources.

3. 🏫 A Physical Mentorship Space: A safe hub where teens can gather for continuous training, mentorship, and growth.

Your contribution will make all of these and more possible.

What We’ve Done Together Already

Through past support, SHADE-IN has been able to:

  • 🌍 Lighted community: Provided electricity in a host community, enhancing safety and promoting growth.
  • 📀 Empowered minds: Supplied Nigerian undergraduates with courseware materials from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in DVD formats, bridging educational gaps.
  • 🏥 Spearheaded healing and empowerment: Conducted medical outreaches and skills empowerment programmes, improving health and creating economic independence.
  • Transformed education in communities, raising a graduate and undergraduates, equipping teachers and educators, empowering students, equipping schools, among other education impact achievements.
  • Impacted teenagers and young people, leading to freedom from addictions, raising advocates, discovery and pursuit of purpose.
  • A few of our testimonials and success stories are captured below.

What Your Continued Support Can Do

✅ Expand our reach to more communities.

✅ Strengthen the quality and scope of our programmes.

✅ Empower more individuals to break free from the cycle of poverty, illiteracy and moral decadence.

Some Testimonials

1. From Aba-Ebira to the world: Hear from Aba-Ebira Community Project Beneficiary, Rasheed Sanni Obaro.

We started coaching Rasheed Sanni Obaro among other community members in April, 2010 through our extra mural classes when he was in JSS 2.

When we started, a five year old child hardly read or write A, B, C, D even though they attended schools. This was the state of education within the community so those in senior classes were also very disadvantaged.

Being an orphan, fostered by his Uncle, he was determined to becoming a graduate.

Aba-Ebira is a settlement in Ekiti State. Through our advocacy, they became a village Oke Agbe II, Ofiyin Village, recognised under Iyin-Ekiti community.

SHADE-IN supported his education from SSCE till he graduated with second class upper honours from University of Benin, Edo State. The support included accommodation, resources, fees, etc.

Find below his testimonial directly from him and how far he has progressed.

International Day of Conscience: When Moral Outrage Misfires – A Case Study in Ethical Activism

Abstract On this International Day of Conscience, we reflect on the delicate balance between righteous indignation and ethical responsibility. This article examines a 2025 incident in Nigeria where an activist’s public confrontation of a struggling mother and her 11‐year‐old daughter escalated into a humiliating episode.  The case, which involved the exposure of the child’s face in violation of child protection guidelines, ultimately led to a public apology from the activist and compassionate intervention from well-meaning Nigerians including the famous chess player and philanthropist Tunde Onakoya, and the founder of Buchymix, who stepped in and offered to support the child’s education and the family's welfare, including accomodation.  Through this analysis, we explore the complexities of activism that neglects empathy and the need for a conscientious approach in public discourse. Introduction Conscience guides us in differentiating right from wrong, yet its application in pu...

My Sexuality and I: My Unashamed Love 💕

My Story and Sexuality Sexuality can be a tricky subject to navigate, especially when you’re young and still figuring out who you are. But one thing I’ve learned through my own journey is that your sexuality is yours to define, and there’s no shame in it—no matter what it looks like or the world's views. This is my story and I hope it inspires you. Growing up, I had a close friend named Franca. We were very close and everyone knew us.  Then, I was more often attracted to girls at different times and we could be so close. Today, a lot of young people get attracted to persons of different sexual orientation - a girl can get attracted to a girl, a boy to a boy, a girl to a boy and vice versa. There is nothing wrong with this on a platonic basis. Child This has been falsely interpreted as them having a different sexual orientation from whom their Maker made them, which informs their gender identity - gay, lesbian and every other identity. This has led to other forms of sexual orientati...
