Have you heard about the Valentine Date Rape Drug?

This Valentine, while some are planning to lavish love on their loved ones, others will be planning to take advantage of an unsuspecting Teen or child.

So, join us please as we raise a campaign against this drug on Valentine's day and beyond.

Do you know that:

📌"Every Valentine has been marked with stories like 'HE RAPED ME', "I DON'T KNOW WHO TOUCHED ME" from our teens? This year, we want to avoid hearing these kind of stories, and so, we are launching out a campaign to sensitize our dear teenagers in this dimension."- Opeyemi Gbemisola Balogun, Teen Mentor and Author, Becoming 18.

📌This drug is commonly used in parties and mini-get-together gatherings. The drug is actually used to treat severe insomnia and anaesthesia. The danger in this drug is that it produces a strong AMNESIA (IT SEDATES & MAKES YOU FORGET THINGS) and is secretly placed in drinks or foods. This makes victims have little or no recollection of what happened around them after taking it. It is illicitly used in aiding sexual assaults and a lot of girls and boys have been raped with the use of this drug on VALENTINE'S DAY. - Opeyemi Gbemisola Balogun, Teen Mentor and Author, Becoming 18.

The drug is actually referred to as DATE RAPE DRUG but because of these Valentine experiences, it is tagged, VALENTINE DATE RAPE DRUG.

Let me tell you a bit more about this drug:

 🔻ROHYPNOL/DATE RAPE DRUG🔻

Rohypnol is a tranquilizer about ten times more potent than Valium. The drug is available as a white or olive-green pill and is usually sold in the manufacturer’s bubble packaging. Users crush the pills and snort the powder, sprinkle it on marijuana and smoke it, dissolve it in a drink or inject it.

ROHYPNOL EFFECTS
Rohypnol has been used to commit sexual assaults because it renders the victim incapable of resisting, giving it the reputation of a “date-rape” drug.

Rohypnol users often describe its effects as “paralyzing.” The effects start twenty to thirty minutes after taking the drug, peak within two hours and may persist for eight or even twelve hours. A person can be so incapacitated (made unable to act) they collapse. They lie on the floor, eyes open, able to observe events but completely unable to move. Afterwards, memory is impaired and they cannot recall any of what happened.

The person experiences loss of muscle control, confusion, drowsiness and amnesia.

Rohypnol is sold in Europe and Latin America as a sleeping pill, but it is illegal in the United States.

Our major audience are teenagers because of their uniqueness.

Note that both boys and girls have been victims of rape. We are quick to say, "It is not my portion", but it is not anybody's portion, that is why we must create the awareness and speak/stand against it.
