We pray that all things work in our favor this month of September.


As we all know, last month was an impactful month as we all participated in a lot of activities.

We revisited Mrs Opeyemi Balogun’s session from the relaunch event of SHADE-IN Teens Hub,  where she clarified what a crush is, how to managed your feelings and complete analysis of Peer Pressure.

You’re not too Young to Lead.

We emphasized on things we could do as youths that would make a difference both in our lives and others.

We were introduced to Obomo Eki-Allen (aka Deo Barz). From self-discovery to purpose, Obomo’s journey began in 2020 through SHADE-IN Teens Hub — where he was inspired to pursue music full-time as a Rap Artist.

We introduced Mrs Abisoye Ajayi-Akinfolarin. Named as one of CNN heroes in 2018 and BBC’s 100 women, she stands as an icon of purpose-driven leadership and gender equality advocacy.

We reminded everyone that we’re not only a voice for the young but also as a guide and a safe place to grow.

Not only did we celebrate international youth day as a community but we spoke on how SHADE-IN Teens Hub fits the annual Theme of the International Youth Day.


We celebrated our local youth and discussed the six things success demands from us on our social media platform: hardwork, patience, sacrifice, consistency, discipline, self-confidence.

First meeting with the community, and SHADE-IN Teens Hub beneficiaries after the successful relaunch of SHADE-IN TEENS HUB -  the information session on the six months mentorship programme for those who have enrolled for the mentorship programme and those who have not.

Marked the start to Our “staying in motion” week. On all our platforms we discussed the key to overcoming distractions.

We introduced one of our outstanding SHADE-IN Teens Hub alumni from 2020, Omiebi Eki-Allen.


He shared a courageous reflection after learning about sexual harassment and assault through our programme.

#WCW Woman Crush Wednesday

We introduced Mrs Kathryn Esther Clement to the community as an award-winning spoken word artist, author of ’Finding Your Path”, content creator, and purpose coach. Through her poetry, writing, and coaching, Kathryn inspires resilience, identity, and purpose while advocating for mental health and social change.

✓August 21📝

We had our second Information Session with the Teens Hub participants and parents to share what they should expect and how to prepare for the Teens Hub mentorship session.


Also on August 21, we held another  meeting with the Teens Hub mentors to review the curriculum and discuss the modality for delivering the mentorship as well as discussion on the upcoming safeguarding training for mentors and SHADE-IN Team.

Marked the start to our “NO Pressure” week. It was basically on emphasis of having and starting a purposeful week.

#Happy 🎂 Birthday Adesina Tabitha

We decided to celebrate Miss Tabitha as a community not only because it was her day but as a part of the community.

Marked the end of the application for SHADE-IN Teens Hub mentorship programme.

  • Safeguarding Training for SHADE-IN Team and Mentors in preparation for the Teens Hub mentorship.

  • Welcome, orientation, curriculum presentation, co-creation and review by Mentors, beneficiaries and SHADE-IN Team.

International Day of Conscience: When Moral Outrage Misfires – A Case Study in Ethical Activism

Abstract On this International Day of Conscience, we reflect on the delicate balance between righteous indignation and ethical responsibility. This article examines a 2025 incident in Nigeria where an activist’s public confrontation of a struggling mother and her 11‐year‐old daughter escalated into a humiliating episode.  The case, which involved the exposure of the child’s face in violation of child protection guidelines, ultimately led to a public apology from the activist and compassionate intervention from well-meaning Nigerians including the famous chess player and philanthropist Tunde Onakoya, and the founder of Buchymix, who stepped in and offered to support the child’s education and the family's welfare, including accomodation.  Through this analysis, we explore the complexities of activism that neglects empathy and the need for a conscientious approach in public discourse.
