About Changed Teachers Conference (CTC)

Changed Teachers Conference (CTC) is a Conference of teachers geared towards
raising Role Models, Mentors and Change Drivers among Teachers who will in turn effect change in their schools, community, and the education system as a whole beginning from themselves.

It is a one of SHADE-IN's programmes aimed at effecting lasting transformation in schools especially Public schools in Nigeria.

It is born out of the need to implement change in the school system using the Community Health Evangelism (CHE) model, which involves the community (in this case, the school), driving her own change.

The maiden edition of the Conference seeks to validate the school's result of the survey conducted by SHADE-IN in some public secondary schools in Benin City. A visit to many public secondary schools in this city will reveal the need for this programme.
The details of the programme are as follows:

Theme: Change Drivers for Education Transformation
Date:  29th March, 2019
Time: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Venue: Edo Innovates Hub, ICE Road, Benin City.

The objectives of the programme are as follows:
1. To enable participants understand the activities of SHADE-IN and their roles.
2. To intimate the participants on the results of SHADE-IN's schools survey.
3. To validate the results of the schools survey with the teachers.
4. To intimate participants on how to implement change in their schools.
5. To collaborate with teachers, on the way forward for effecting lasting change in our schools.

The programme will  feature: opening session, main session (which features topics like: Introduction to SHADE-IN, Report of Schools survey and Implementing Change in Your School). It also has an interactive and work session that features (Focal Group Discussions and Planning the Way forward for our schools). The programme will climax with an evaluation and networking session for all participants. It promises to be impactful, motivating and inspiring.
We are collaborating with Scripture Union, Edo State to provide 10 teachers from 10 public schools who we will be engaging with during the programme.

We are expecting the presence of the following stakeholders at the programme in no particular order:
Lift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO), TY Danjuma Foundation, Market Development in the Niger Delta (MADE), Conference of Non-Governmental Organisations (CONGOs) and SabiHub.

SHADE-IN hopes that the strategies received for implementing change in our public schools would metamorphose into reality.
We hope to see a better educational system even in this generation. We hope this programme will bring about a ripple effect where there would be a spiral of change in our public secondary schools. We hope for a better Nigeria that works and is driven by educated and enlightened minds in every sector of our economy.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria, God bless Edo State, God bless SHADE-IN.

International Day of Conscience: When Moral Outrage Misfires – A Case Study in Ethical Activism

Abstract On this International Day of Conscience, we reflect on the delicate balance between righteous indignation and ethical responsibility. This article examines a 2025 incident in Nigeria where an activist’s public confrontation of a struggling mother and her 11‐year‐old daughter escalated into a humiliating episode.  The case, which involved the exposure of the child’s face in violation of child protection guidelines, ultimately led to a public apology from the activist and compassionate intervention from well-meaning Nigerians including the famous chess player and philanthropist Tunde Onakoya, and the founder of Buchymix, who stepped in and offered to support the child’s education and the family's welfare, including accomodation.  Through this analysis, we explore the complexities of activism that neglects empathy and the need for a conscientious approach in public discourse. Introduction Conscience guides us in differentiating right from wrong, yet its application in pu...

My Sexuality and I: My Unashamed Love 💕

My Story and Sexuality Sexuality can be a tricky subject to navigate, especially when you’re young and still figuring out who you are. But one thing I’ve learned through my own journey is that your sexuality is yours to define, and there’s no shame in it—no matter what it looks like or the world's views. This is my story and I hope it inspires you. Growing up, I had a close friend named Franca. We were very close and everyone knew us.  Then, I was more often attracted to girls at different times and we could be so close. Today, a lot of young people get attracted to persons of different sexual orientation - a girl can get attracted to a girl, a boy to a boy, a girl to a boy and vice versa. There is nothing wrong with this on a platonic basis. Child This has been falsely interpreted as them having a different sexual orientation from whom their Maker made them, which informs their gender identity - gay, lesbian and every other identity. This has led to other forms of sexual orientati...
