SHADE-IN celebrates Children’s Day with the children of Aba-Ebira community, shows a movie

On the 29th of May 2017, Saving Hand Development Initiative (SHADE-IN) organised a childrens day programme for the children of Aba-Ebira community located along New-Iyin road adjacent the Nigerian Christian Corpers Fellowship (NCCF) Family House, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State. It was a nice time with the children of the community. There were fifteen children, teenagers and young adults in attendance namely: Kehinde, Ayomide, Gift, Mary, Zeenat, Joy Salawu, Joy Junior, Paul, David, Idowu, Mubarak, Zainab, Israel, Favour, Rihanna, Bashiru. The members of the initiative that were in attendance include: Oluwakemi Adeyemi, Adaku Ekwueme, Aniedi, Kayode Kolawole, Adejoke Adediran, Rosemary Ben, etc. Members like Moyinoluwa Akinlade, Jacob Sombu, Oluwatosin/ Omolewu were involved in underground activities in the kitchen and getting things set for the programme.

The children were involved in the entire program from cooking to serving of refreshments. The program started at noon and began with praise and worship songs which was anchored by the children. Thereafter the prayer and word sessions were done by SHADE-IN community volunteers. The children were asked about their future ambitions, which they excitedly mentioned. The volunteers also told the children their professions.

The children were shown the movie, Akeelah and the Bee, which they watched while they were being served with refreshments of peppered puff-puff and zobo.

The President of NCCF Ekiti State, came around and prayed for the children.

SHADE-IN expressed gratitude to the parents who trusted her volunteers enough to be in care of their children for over 4 hours and who (the mothers especially) had to work more because their children were not around to help with peeling cassava.

The Childrens Day celebration fulfilled one of SHADE-IN's value reorientation strategies under her Mindset Change Campaign (MC Campaign) program, intended to challenge the minds of children on the need to socialise as a very integral part of development while learning new things on purpose and leadership. She achieves this objective through events such as the aforementioned.

My Sexuality and I: My Unashamed Love 💕

My Story and Sexuality Sexuality can be a tricky subject to navigate, especially when you’re young and still figuring out who you are. But one thing I’ve learned through my own journey is that your sexuality is yours to define, and there’s no shame in it—no matter what it looks like or the world's views. This is my story and I hope it inspires you. Growing up, I had a close friend named Franca. We were very close and everyone knew us.  Then, I was more often attracted to girls at different times and we could be so close. Today, a lot of young people get attracted to persons of different sexual orientation - a girl can get attracted to a girl, a boy to a boy, a girl to a boy and vice versa. There is nothing wrong with this on a platonic basis. Child This has been falsely interpreted as them having a different sexual orientation from whom their Maker made them, which informs their gender identity - gay, lesbian and every other identity. This has led to other forms of sexual orientati...
